The Prizes

1st prize: £10,000

(The prize-winning student will receive a £9,000 contribution to the cost of fees, and your school’s art department will receive £1,000 to spend as they see fit – keeping your teacher happy!)

2nd prize: £5,000 (£4,500 going to the student, £500 to the school art department)

3rd prize: £2,500 (£2,250 going to the student, £250 to the school art department)

In addition to the prize money, the winners will be offered space to exhibit their prize-winning work at Piran Strange’s Summer Exhibition in 2012 in a central London location.

Choosing the winner:

We are delighted to announce that the judging panel for 2012 will be made up of the following:

  • Piran Strange
  • Chloe Lamb
  • Martha Alexander
  • Anna Brady

Short-listing:

1) Piran Strange will hand-pick 20 finalists who will be invited to send their works to London to be presented in front of the Piran Strange Art Prize judging panel. Postage costs will be reimbursed.

2) The judges will select the three winning art works based on excellence. The judges’ opinions will be final.

3) The winning works will be hung at the Piran Strange Art Exhibition next summer. All works selected for hanging will remain on show for the duration of the exhibition.
